I'm Guy Martin, a security and infrastructure leader based in Dubai with 20+ years in IT.

Most recently I was VP of Information Security at ConnectWise. Before that I ran cloud engineering at Axcient: four datacenters, 10,000+ Linux VMs and hundreds of petabytes of storage. Earlier roles include Cisco TAC, network operations at the European Parliament and ethical hacking at PwC Luxembourg.

I've been an open source geek for as long as I've been in IT. I ported Gentoo to HPPA (PA-RISC), and since 2008 I've been building packet-o-matic, a real-time network forensics tool that turns live traffic into events and payloads. It evolved into pom-ng, and I'm now rewriting it in Rust as pktaddikt, an event-driven deep packet inspection engine, with experimental MCP support so AI agents can work with live network data. I presented Sniffing Cable Modems at DEF CON 16 in 2008 and HAR2009, and have also spoken at OHM.

These days I build and break things at home: local LLMs, AI agents, Linux and networking. This blog is where I write about my experiments.

Opinions are my own.
